We milled curved cedar casing for all the doors and windows.
There is one on-demand water heater that generates radiant floor heat for the home, as well as domestic hot water. This all fits in a small closet, and is extremely efficient. With the super-insulation, this 1250sf home heats in the winter for under $40/month.
Inlaid butterfly keys.
This large window faces south, and gathers lots of winter warmth. It's also a favorite spot for cats :-) The master bedroom loft has a window, with custom cedar doors, overlooking the living room.
Local eastern cedar was used to cover the walls behind the tub, adding warmth and functional protection, without the cool/hardness of tile.
The window is placed to allow them to wake up and see the cherry blossoms.
